Admittedly, the <strong>high-season (November &#8211; March) is the best time of the year<\/strong> to ensure you get those clean, sandy beaches, but even beyond that period, you can get some mighty fine weather.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After Phu Quoc reopened to the masses after Covid, this beach has once again hit the radars of beach-loving tourists. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;ve also seen a few complaints online about rubbish being washed up on Sao beach, but I spent 5 days there in mid-March 2019, and a couple more days in late 2022, and didn&#8217;t see any rubbish at all. If you want peace and quiet before the tour buses hit the beach, head there early.  What surprised me was that the tourists seemed to all disappear at 5 pm, and then the locals flocked in, complete with their Ninja-style, full-length swimsuits (the Vietnamese are renowned for steering clear of the mid-day sun at the beach!).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What can I do on Sao Beach?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Sao beach is, of course, the perfect beach for kicking back and sinking your toes into some white sandy, er, sands&#8230; and with a multitude of swings that are located in photogenic spots along the beach, you&#8217;ll be spoilt for choice for that perfect <em>wish you were here<\/em> pic!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The beach itself is split into three main areas: the <em>southern end<\/em>, which appears to be fairly chillout, the <em>central zone<\/em>, which appears to be where the action (and noise) is, including a number of decent eateries, and even jet skis and para-sailing for the more adventurous (and even a few fake starfish &#8211; possibly to woo the masses from the island&#8217;s now famed <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/gogogovietnam.com\/starfish-beach-phu-quoc-all-you-need-to-know\/\" title=\"Starfish Beach, Phu Quoc: all you need to know\">Starfish beach<\/a><\/strong>), and the <em>northern end<\/em>, which appears to be the quiet, laid-backed, romantic zone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Take your pick (the pics below are in the following order: the northern end, the central zone, and the southern end).<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/gogogovietnam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/PhuQuoc-SaoBeach4-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"Sao Beach: the northern end\" class=\"wp-image-544\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/gogogovietnam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/PhuQuoc-SaoBeach4-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"Sao Beach: the central zone\" class=\"wp-image-540\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/gogogovietnam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/PhuQuoc-SaoBeach3-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"Sao Beach: the southern end\" class=\"wp-image-538\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"cb-alert cb-white\">If unique beaches are on your search list, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/gogogovietnam.com\/starfish-beach-phu-quoc-all-you-need-to-know\/\">click HERE<\/a><\/strong> to read about Starfish Beach on the northern side of Phu Quoc. It&#8217;s a fairly easy drive from those areas, and if you&#8217;ve already made it as far as Sao Beach, head to the little port town of <strong>An Thoi<\/strong> at the southern tip of the island for an authentic little fishing port, complete with friendly locals, and a buzzing little high-street.
